I chose the following excerpt: "As I crossed the street, an ocean breeze washed through the eucalyptus and the pines. A single sparrow sailed across the sky. I picked a dandelion from the yard and shook it in the wind while our cat Tony slept, belly up, on the porch. The sidewalks shimmered in the sun. Somewhere a dog was barking. I wondered what Hanna was doing in Utah right then. This was one of the last real afternoons." page 106
I chosed it because the excerpt was special, because this happened when the earth catastrophe was. Because this was a normal day in the abnormal, and it was extraordinary because the heaven was calm.
Sofia chosed an excerpt where Seth and Julia kissed for the first time, and she chosed it because she wanted to know if they were a couple and she understood it when she read that.
Philip talked about that we humans think that we're all so special and unique, but we are just a really small part compared to the universe.
Anna talked about that internet was such a big part in our lives, internet means so much to us, and that we would be crazy if the internet one day would break down. In her excerpt, the internet didn't break down but the electric cables did, so people couldn't contact each other.
I think that our second group meeting went well, it was better than our first meeting. Now everyone was done with the book and everybody had chosen an excerpt, which was very good! We had a lot to talk about.
